Chapter 42 - Public Display

From the beginning to the end of our time in the restaurant, Rick didn't make an appearance. Later, I discovered that he was Lucian's cousin on his mother's side, someone who was akin to a brother to him. My heart was heavy with remorse, realizing that I had unwittingly added salt to his wounds.

But our outing didn't conclude there; neither did the relentless reporters who lurked in every corner, capturing images and videos of us together from every conceivable angle, I mean literally every angle.

Following that, we embarked on a shopping spree. It became evident that Lucian was someone who held onto grudges, and his earlier warning about me paying the price for betraying him to Rick was no empty threat

Now, I found myself spending two hours in the dressing room, trying on an array of clothes, while he leisurely occupied himself with a glass of wine in one hand and a magazine in the other, occasionally nodding in approval to the seamstress or whatever it was.
