Chapter 43 - Unwanted Confrontation

The silence in the car stretched on, growing more uncomfortable with each passing moment. Lucian, with his piercing gaze locked onto the road ahead, finally broke the stillness with a heavy sigh.

"What the hell was that?" he questioned, his frustration evident in the furrowed lines of his forehead and the tension in his voice.

I shifted in my seat, feeling the weight of his scrutiny. It was a loaded question, one that hung in the air, demanding an answer. Lucian's emotions were like a turbulent sea, and I realized I needed to navigate them carefully. I turned to him.

"Acting, what else?" I lied, though it felt like much more than that.

"That's past acting, and you know it... From afar, I could..."
