Chapter 2: Without Alpha Jaxon

Veronica's Point of View

[Eight Months Later]

I took a close look at my blissfully sleeping son. For the months that he was inside of me, I believed that no one would be delighted that he would be born, thus a variety of emotions ran through my chest. However, I was mistaken because it didn't cross my mind that the Moon Goddess would replace what I lost with an even better gift.

"I'll make sure that the life I provide you is not taken away by anybody else, Morgan, and I won't allow you feel as like you are missing out on the love you deserve."

I kissed his forehead and saw his small dimple even though he couldn't hear what I said. I would make sure that my son and I being rogue would not be an obstacle for him to enjoy a normal life.

A painful wound stung my heart as I remembered the past. The day my father found out about my pregnancy, he wanted me to abort Morgan but because I didn't agree, he became very angry with me. I told my mother that I wanted to save the baby because I believed that blood was more important than anything else—but I was wrong.

They outcast me. They shunned me.

Throughout my pregnancy, I didn't shift nor did I find my mate, it became one of the reason why they chose to kick me out from the Shadow Moon Pack.

I wiped my tears as I tell myself that I shouldn't live to my past.

When I calmed down, three nurses came in to check on me just a few seconds later. Nevertheless, my expectation that they would treat me well like when I was a member of the Shadow Moon Pack seemed to had changed.

"Disgusting. How could she give birth without a mate?"

"An unmated and got pregnant?"

"Didn't you know that she should've been the next Alpha of Shadow Moon Pack?"

Even though the nurses were whispering, I could hear what they were talking about. Despite me became a rogue and an unmated werewolf, I still hadn't lost my sharp sense of hearing. I still had an Alpha blood so I didn't understand why they would gossip in front of me.

They started testing my body and other things, while they were doing that, I could feel the hardness of their every move, as if they were angry and disgusted for even touching me.

If I had been the Alpha of the Shadow Moon Pack, I was sure they wouldn't have treated me like this. They might kiss the ground just to get my attention.

I just held my breath when they finished checking me, and since I had just finished crying and my throat was dry, I wanted to ask them a favor, "Can I have a glass of water?"

"Why? Why don't you ask the unknown statues werewolf that got you pregnant?" A nurse replied rudely as she rolled her eyes.

Her two companions laughed. When I was about to open my mouth to answer them, one of her companions spoke again, "You're going to eat later at the cafeteria, aren't you? Why don't you just take it from there?"

"What?" I couldn't believe it.

"I said what I said. Anyway, after you eat, I'll come back here to assist you and move you to the unmated section."

After the nurse stated that, they had already turned back and left. I had to adjust to a life that was distinct from the one I lived in the past. I wanted to eat and drink, but I refrained since I walked straight to a nurse and asked for help finding the unmated section.

When I arrived, I couldn't claim there were a lot of wolves in this area, but I also couldn't say there weren't many. I looked around and noticed an empty bed, so I went right there to lay Morgan down, but as soon as I did, all the females' attention turned to me. They didn't seem to have any plans to harm me, so I was not sure if I should be terrified or relieved.

I just ignored their strange stares at me. It wouldn't be long before I could get out of here.

Weeks went by as I gradually recovered. Perhaps the reason my mending process was quicker than some here who still hadn't regained their power aura was because I was of Alpha blood.

As I was putting Morgan to sleep while seated on the bed, I was astonished when two women stood in front of me. As I waited for them to speak, I realized that they were keeping their gaze fixed on me when I looked up.

"Is there something I can help you with?" I broke their silence.

The first woman was tall and white, her eyes narrowed as she held her baby with the baby's head on her neck. Another woman was also tall while her color is Tan.

The white woman replied, "No, we're just astonished that out of all the patients here, you're the only one that recovered quicker."

"That's right, your boy doesn't cry either, unlike some of the other newborns here whose cries are distressing—"

"Sshh!" Even though we had Beta, Omega, Alpha, or Rogue here, they were still wolves with keen hearing, so I promptly order them to keep quiet. I didn't want to get in any mischief.

They exchanged glances and understood what I tried to communicate right away. Some women were watching at us when I looked around, because of that, I searched around for something piercing, afraid they'd hear our next conversation.

I hastily searched my backpack for a needle injection, and I sneakily pricked my palm. I did the same to them by grabbing their free palms as well.

When our palms had the same amount of blood, I signaled them to stick it on my palm to form the Blood compact and we would have a mind-link.

I felt an electricity run through my brain, a proof that our minds had linked.

I tried to communicate with them using the mind-link, "The reason I have recovered fast is because of my Alpha blood."

I could clearly see the shock in their eyes. They looked at each other and blinked their eyes several times.

"That's why we noticed that you are so different from the ordinary rogue. By the way, I'm Tiffany Rock." The white woman answered me.

"And I'm Sara Gordon." The Tan color girl now.

I smiled at them then cut the mind-link, "And I'm Veronica Silva. The supposed to be Alpha of Shadow Moon Pack."

After my conversation with Sara and Tiffany, I gradually got close with them. They told me their life stories and like me, they were also just an unmated mother.

Since that time, we have assisted one another with our children and daily survival. It was at that point that I understood that your title or status could not determine how happy you would be in life. What you choose to do was not decide by your sense of honor.

And me being unmated would also make no difference. I would raised Morgan with my own— without Alpha Jaxon.
