For the past few days after the whole cancelled engagement banquet fiasco, Phillip was drowning in his fair share of frustration, trying to solve the issues created by both the Adams and of course, the Stevens. Concerned business partners wanted to hastily withdraw their support along with their resources, shifting their investments from real estate to the clothing market… from Phillip Hudson to Richard Stevens, all because of the confirmed union of Jeremy and Erika.
As it turned out, the latter really didn’t need to lift a finger in promoting his enterprise and watch the former crumble by his own weight. Initially, loosing a handful of clients wasn’t much of a big deal, but with the rate things were going if the current situation continues, then perhaps by the end of the year the great Hudson empire might possibly face serious financial pressure.
Thinking of this, the only solution he could come up with was to

“Is it really necessary to get a part-time job? Don’t get me wrong, it’s good to start early but we only have a few months until we graduate. To be able to afford a car… it’s going to take a while.” Erika stated, trying to change the context of Jeremy’s taunting words, in attempt to cool her flushed cheeks. “Hmm… well it’s the only way I can think of, for now. Even if my mom claims fifty percent of the company, I might not be able to have my own car unless the man actually resigns.” He began summarizing his sister’s speech of spending and saving wisely in case Thomas Adams pulled some sort of dirty trick. “Sheesh… then stop being so dramatic.” The girl grumbled, finding his idea of working at this point to be a waste of time, since their days of being college students were almost over and they would soon be able to venture into a better paying career field. “I’m trying to be responsible…”
“This isn’t funny.” Erika was practically on the verge of crying. “What am I suppose to do now? This is all your fault! Who told you to be so… so dramatic?” “Alight, it’s my fault. Silly me.” Jeremy chuckled lightly, enjoying the cute childish side of her. “Augh! This is no time to be laughing, we’re domed.” She slowly lifted her head, blinking her mesmerizing eyes in a pleading manner as if asking for a quick solution. “It’s not too late to call your dad…” “No! Then he’ll think I lied, which I didn’t… I just didn’t tell them everything… augh! I might get punished again; you’ll be grumpier when I have to drive you around…” The girl mumbled a series of possible confusing outcomes. Well, it all made sense in her head thinking of her last punishment of changing phones and her entire wardrobe because of pretending to need corrective lens. Ignoring her exaggeration,
“Maybe we can explain the situation to the director, that lousy doctor might only tell his crappy side of the story.” Erika worriedly looked towards Jeremy as he nodded in agreement. “Hmm… even if he insists on having us regrouped, I should at least be the one to remain under his training. There’s no way I’m letting him get too close to you.” He added decisively. The poor girl instantly felt a headache, this wasn’t going to be easy. Unlike most love smiting, helpless romantic teenager that would admire her boyfriend’s protectiveness, Erika simply thought he was being stupid. It didn’t take someone with a high EQ to figure out that William was deliberately trying to stir up trouble, but his motives were still unclear. So, if push comes to shove, she would rather wait it out and see what exactly the good doctor’s intentions were. In any case, what’s the worst that can happen? It’s not like they would be alone, she’ll still h
“You’re not going anywhere.” Jeremy squeezed her fingers gently as if reminding her of his grip. “Wh… what are you talking about? I just felt crowded, that’s all.” Erika flashed a fake innocent smile, barely realizing her actions of retreating a few steps already. What else could her intentions possibly be if not to escape the depressing air awaiting her in the principal’s office. “Don’t tell me you’re afraid of that cheap imitation Barbie?” “What about us? We actually like being cheerleaders, are you going to let her continue to bully us like that? Why must she always get what she wants?” The talkative duo, Abby and Lisa skillfully pretended to be worried they’ll be cast out of the team. Hoping to guilt trip Erika into defending not them but by extension, herself. Seeing the slight waver in her expression, Jeremy weighed in. “Babe, you still need to keep your position in place
“Why would you be in trouble? For forgetting to tell your mother and I about the pre-internship arrangement or for lying to us and taking the bus with your boyfriend?” Richard’s steps halted as he asked so casually it really didn’t sound like he was angry by the slightest bit. Of course, Erika knew better than to make assumptions when it came to her father. So she thought there was no such thing as being too careful, “I’m really sorry daddy, whatever punishment you decide on, I’ll accept it this time… no questions asked.” “Take it easy there turtle, don’t get ahead of yourself. Why should I be angry? It’s not like you guys went to a hotel in a taxi. It was a public transport for school assigned activity.” The man couldn’t bare scaring his cute little fool, but added… “just don’t let it happen again.” “Huh?” Erika was stunned thinking she had heard him wrong. “Aren’t you going to punish me? force
“What are you planning to do, daddy? Will Mr. Hudson really force us out of his community? Won’t it be a great loss to him?” Erika worried asked, recalling the arrogant but subtle warning the man gave as they were on their way out of the office doors. “Precisely. Such a great loss.” Richard laughed mysteriously, standing up adding his final words. “You kids shouldn’t burden yourself with the affairs of adults, just look out for each other and enjoy your college days before it’s over. I got to get back to the company now, see you at home turtle.” He patted Erika’s head once more, taking his leave. “Augh! Why does he always have to aim for the head? Do I look like a puppy?” She pouted in a complaining manner, trying to rearrange her slightly messed up hair. “Yes, you’re a cute little poodle.” Jeremy chuckled, casually taking the spoon off her plate in attempt to feed her, “come on, eat up before yo
The following morning went on as usual with the young lovers accompanying each other to the hospital, the only difference was they had effectively been placed on separate teams. Jeremy observing first hand trauma cases while Erika resisted the urge to ruin the handsome doctor’s face. After realizing the young man’s possible intentions might be connected to her so-called rival, the over imaginative girl couldn’t help mentally acting out a scene of poking his lingering eyes out or chopping his arms off for ‘accidentally’ brushing against her at least ten times within their limited two-hour training. Yeah, like who would believe it was an honest mistake? But she was certainly thankful he didn’t go beyond long stares and split-second contact. However, her newly assigned partner, apparently named Grace, could just as easily detect William’s leniency and extra attentiveness towards her. When Erika deliberately did things wrong, instea
“Oh my God! That was freaking awesome! I can’t believe I actually said that out loud, usually I would have loads of random response floating around in my head but I would never think of confronting anyone, especially with so many people watching, well except for that time she slapped me during my first cheerleading practice, still… she had it coming. Oh, and at that pervert’s home, but it was just the four of us there….” Erika rambled on, feeling a burst of excitement as she came out of the cafeteria, tightly clinging onto the helpless teen’s arm. “You did good.” Jeremy smiled, utterly pleased by her courage, even if it was a spur of the moment type of thing and she barely managed to remain standing in the face of so many hypercritical spectators, quickly shifting their views. “My heart is literally racing right now.” The silly girl subconsciously brought both their entangled hands towards her violently drumming heart, innocentl
