Chapter 8 : Warmth-Gabriel

Gabriel's POV

Lucy was ice cold. Her petal pink lips an unnatural shade of powder blue. I brought her upstairs to our room, wrapping a quilt around her shoulders and turning on the shower. Not too hot. I had to warm her up gradually.

Her shoulders trembled, shaking with uncontrollable tremors. "What happened?" I asked gently, leaning her back against the mattress to strip her of her saturated shoes and socks. Lucy told me that Vivianna saved her, but I didn't know what that meant.

"I-I don't know," she replied, chattering her teeth. "I can't explain it."

"Try," I urged, unbuttoning her blouse, pushing it off her shoulders to replace it with the quilt.

She looked away from me, ghastly pale with only a twinkle of guilt coloring her face. "I was walking home when something called me to the garden. It called my name and then…then I couldn't control myself anymore. Like some kind of trace."
