Chapter 60

Ariana's POV

At Diana's prompting, I extended my hand and held the book out to Alpha Derek who took it without a word. As our fingers touched, I felt butterflies in my stomach and I wondered why I was having such a reaction toward Alpha Derek. Sure he was attractive -more than attractive even, since he was a work of art- but I couldn't be having a reaction like that towards him. He was the Alpha and I was just his subject.

Seeing as he didn't say anything, and silence filled the whole environment, I decided to speak up.

"This is one of the books you sent me and Henry to get yesterday," I said, proud of myself for not stuttering and making my words audible enough.

And then I blanched. If he hadn't remembered what happened between Henry and I before, then I had succeeded in reminding him now. I almost cursed at myself for making such a mistake. It was inevitable, though, I thought, consoling myself after my blunder.

"I see," Alpha Derek responded and I was surprised.
