SEVENTY EIGHT

Hazel felt the air around her begin to thin out. Her heart was beating fast and she had unconsciously dropped the soup spoon in her hand until the sound startled herself who was now in a state of extreme shock.

"Careful. I'll get you new spoon."

The man ducked under her bed to pick up the soup spoon that had just fallen. As their eyes met each other, Hazel instantly felt tears start to fill her eye sockets.

"Are you real? I… I just had an accident,” she stammered in a choked voice. “I must have hit my head so hard yesterday that I started hallucinating about Calvin. You're just my hallucination right?

"I'm not your hallucination."

Calvin could feel Hazel's palms cold and quivering as he touched them for the first time in months of excruciating pain. He felt Hazel about to pull his hand away, but he held it tightly as he stared into Hazel's stunning eyes.
