The first thing she felt when she opened her eyes was that her whole body ached. Hands, feet, head, everything hurts. She seemed to have a hard time moving her hands without causing a terrible stinging pain to run through her body. Thousands of elephants seemed to have just trampled her body.
For five minutes she tried to adjust to the pain and everything around her. She knew she was in the hospital. Last night her car hit a power pole as she tried to chase the terrorist. Actually the damage wouldn't have been that bad had she been driving at a normal speed, but she wasn't. In order to catch up to the lambo, she pushed the gas pedal too deep. Just as Calvin turned after putting down Hazel's tray of dirty dishes, Catherine appeared behind him, about to ask the nurse where Hazel's treatment room was. It's white, has a strong carbolic smell, and is very boring. There was no interesting sight in the room other than the blue curtains that occasionally swayed because of the wind blowing from the air conditioner. Everything seemed very quiet in the room. Even Hazel thought she could hear her own breathing and the constant beating of her heart. She was alone in her treatment room. Everyone has gone home to move on with their own lives. And she was left alone here in silence. Catherine had been with her long enough today. All morning until noon they exchanged whatever stories they could until their lips were dry and tired.
