CHAPTER FOUR

Shocked

The guards dragged her to an empty room and locked the door.

“How annoying; I should have just minded my business,” she muttered with a frown before sitting down in a corner.

Meanwhile, the baby wouldn't stop crying, no matter what the man did. He had to even take him to a doctor to check if there was anything wrong with him.

“The baby is perfectly healthy, and there is definitely nothing wrong,” the doctor said after a series of checks.

“So you are telling me that he is just crying for no reason?” The man asked angrily.

The doctor just bowed his head in fear, as he didn't want the man to take his anger out on him.

“Sir, if you don't mind me asking, was there someone else holding him before you took him?” The doctor asked with a whisper-like voice.

“Yes, what does that have to do with anything?” The man asked with a deep frown.

“Babies have a way of choosing who to get along with and who they want to be around. So he must be crying for that person, and I will advise you to call the person over, as too much crying can make him sick,” the doctor said, but the man just walked away angrily without bothering to reply to what he just said.

The doctor immediately took a deep sigh of relief and packed up his things before running away.

The baby continued crying, and the man handed him to one of the bodyguards out of frustration.

His phone started ringing, and he walked away from there to a more quiet place because of the baby's crying.

“Carl, where are you able to find anything?” He asked as soon as he picked up the phone.

“So there really was a car with a dead man in it. Can you confirm if the man was really a driver?” He asked and waited for the other person to reply.

“He is one of the Davis family drivers? Okay, focus on the cleanup and also get rid of the Davis family driver and the car,” he ordered before hanging up.

He immediately made his way into the elevator and pressed the button for the top floor.

The bodyguards at the door saluted him before opening the door, and he walked in to see Amira humming a happy tune instead of being scared and covered in tears, which was really odd for a girl of her age.

“How old are you?” He couldn't help asking for her age just to be sure he wasn't mistaking.

"18,” she said with a nonchalant attitude.

“What's your connection with the Davis family?” He asked while looking at her face to make sure he didn't miss any of her expressions.

“I am the legitimate daughter of Mr. Johnson Davis, the CEO of Davis Enterprises,” she said with a playful smile.

“How come you have never appeared in public?” He asked with a serious tone.

“My dad cheated on my mom when I was ten years old, which led to his mistress forcing my mom to her death. My maternal grandfather took me with him to the countryside after my mother's burial because my dad was an asshole,” she said with a slight smile.

“Then, why are you going back now? ”He asked.

“My grandpa passed away three days ago, and my father sent someone to bring me back,” she answered without much thought.

She started checking her pocket, like she was searching for something.

“Here is the amulet that was given to me by your boss earlier,” she said while handing him the amulet.

He took it while observing her every move.

“I actually have the same amulet, so I was shocked to see that one. My grandpa had told me that there were only two in the world and that when I find the other one, he will be rest assured and finally rest in peace,” she said while the man just stared at her in shock.

“Can I see your own amulet?” He asked with a curious expression.

She pulled down her jacket and removed the amulet that was around her neck. She handed it to the man, and he held the two amulets up to observe them.

A few minutes later, he handed the amulet back to her. His attitude took a 360-degree turn as he immediately ushered her out of the room with a smile, which she found really creepy.

She walked out of the room, and he led her to the elevator while the two bodyguards followed behind them.

When they arrived on the floor where the boss was being treated, the cries of a baby were the first thing they heard.

Amira walked to the bodyguard that was holding the baby and tried to take the baby from him, but he stepped away while giving her a warning glare.

“Give her the baby,” the man ordered, and the bodyguard immediately handed her the baby.

As soon as she held him, he stopped crying and snuggled into her chest. She started patting his back softly, as he was still breathing heavily from his crying. His breathing slowly calmed down after a few minutes, and the entire floor became extremely quiet.

“Sebastian, but you can call me Seb,” the man finally introduced himself.

"Amira,” she said her name nonchalantly.

“I think the baby is hungry; send someone to get some milk,” she said without even looking at him.

“Ethan, call old Maggie and tell her to bring the baby's food to the hospital,” Seb instructed one of the bodyguards.

The bodyguard, Ethan, immediately left to make the call. The operation room door finally opened, and the doctor stepped out with a tired look.

“It wasn't easy, but our professionalism came into play, and I saved his life. I guess you can call me his life saver,” the doctor said while wiping the nonexistent beads of sweat from his forehead.

“The boss will definitely show his gratitude, as he never owes a favor,” Seb said with a serious tone.

“What type of operation did you perform on him that took an hour and a half?” Amira asked the doctor with a smile.

“He was shot, so we took out the bullets and stopped the bleeding before dressing the wounds. I don't expect you to understand anything, little girl, so please don't interrupt when elders are talking,” the doctor said with a deep frown.

“I will like to see the bullets that you removed from his body,” she said with a serious tone.

“What do you want to do with the bullets? In fact, the nurse has already taken them away,” he said while glaring at her.

“What nurse? You are the only one that came out of the operation room, so the nurse must be inside,” she said with a smile.

The doctor was already sweating and fidgeting as he tried to come up with an excuse.

“What is going on?” Seb asked Amira with a frown.

“Mr. Professional here said he removed bullets from your boss’s body, but I had already removed the bullets when I rescued him, so this doctor’s job was just to clean the wound properly and administer the right antibiotics that will prevent it from getting infected, which should have taken like twenty minutes maximum to do, but clearly he has his own plans and is claiming to have removed the bullets,” she explained, and Sebastian's face turned dark in anger as he turned to the already shivering doctor.

“She is lying; I removed the bullets!” He yelled angrily.

Amira held the baby with one hand and put the other in her pocket, probably to bring out something. She brought out a nylon bag containing two bloody bullets and threw it at the doctor angrily.

“The next time you call me a liar, I will make sure it is the last word that you will ever say in your miserable life,” she said angrily while giving him a cold glare.

“Ethan, take him to the top floor and show him some love,” Seb said with a smile that sent chills down the doctors spine.

"Please, sir, I am very sorry.” The doctor fell on his knees and started pleading for mercy.

If this were in her previous life, she would have forgiven him, but in this life, she chose to be heartless, and whoever offends her in this life will never go scot-free.

“The nurse must be in on this too,” she said, and the doctor looked like he had found a way out.

“Yes, she was the one that came up with the idea of collecting money from your boss; when I refused to corporate with her, she threatened me,” the doctor pushed all the blame on the nurse.

Seb gestured for him to enter the operation room, and as soon as he entered, the nurse immediately rushed to him without noticing our presence.

“Did they agree to give us the money?” The nurse asked excitedly, but as soon as she noticed us, her face turned pale in fear.

“You both really have some nerves,” Seb said before gesturing to Ethan and the others to drag them away.

“Sir, I really do not know anything; he threatened me!” The nurse yelled, but she was dragged into the elevator, and her voice was shut out.

“What's all the noise for?” the man on the bed said with a tired voice.

“Boss, how are you feeling?” Seb asked with a worried voice.

“I am fine,” he replied before closing his eyes.

“Brother!” The door was suddenly pushed open from the outside, and a beautiful girl of about my age walked in hurriedly.

"Brother, are you okay?” She asked as she held the man's hand with tears streaming down her cheeks.

She looked quite familiar, and she tried to remember who the girl was in her last life. Then it suddenly clicked, and she stepped back in shock.

She is Camila Marchetti, the princess of the Marchetti Mafia family.

She only has one brother, who is the head of the family, and she just called the man on the bed, which means he is the ruthless and cold-hearted Mafia boss.

Leonardo Marchetti

As soon as she came to this sudden realization, her legs went weak, and she slumped against the wall, and they all turned to look at me.

Seb rushed over to take the baby from her as she eyes slowly closed.
