Dahlia POV.

Sitting at the bar looking at the whiskey in front of me. Everything is fucked up. Why does this have to happen to me? What did I ever fucking do to deserve this fate?

“Dah. Don’t do this.” I ignore him. I know he will intervene if needs be. But this is my goddamn life.

“How was I supposed to know this would have happened? What was I supposed to do, dad? Was I supposed to keep my mate bond with Mal after what happened? Was I meant to just suck it up and live with the pains of betrayal?” I say as I keep looking at the rich amber liquid that is taunting me in the glass tumbler.

“No, baby, you did what anyone would do in that situation. Your mother tired numerous times to break our bond and it never worked. I’m surprised it worked with you,” he says and for the first time that I sat down here, I turn my head to look at him.

“Why is history repeating itself, dad?” I ask him, and he shakes his head, bringing his soda to his lips.
