I wake up to what sounds like Loyalty whimpering from the bathroom. I find her curled up on the floor of the tub, bringing back horrid memories of my mother. “Baby girl”? I’m supposed to go back to school tomorrow, so I do everything in my power, including blowing Spin in the shower, to convince him to take me for my motorcycle permit test! When he finally agreed, I thankfully passed it on my first try! I spent the next several weeks getting him to take me out onto the track to ride my own bike. “Alright, so once she gets her license I’m pulling the ATV out”, Gabe tells Spin as they walk up to the track rolling my bike. “Take it slow baby girl, and remember you’re balancing both yours and Gabe’s weight so ease into the turns”, Spin tells me as I hop on. “I know, I know! Now let me ride. Come on, G! let’s go, let’s go”, I squealed. Gabe straddles onto the back of my bike behind me, and I take off slowly to satisfy Spin. Gabe is telling me pointers as we ride the track until they finally agree to let me ride solo with Gabe riding alongside me instead of with me. It’s morning and I’m in a room that’s so familiar yet has also grown to be so unfamiliar at the same time. Opening my eyes to the bare walls of my bedroom at my foster parent's house makes me question if my life for the last few months was just some really odd dream. The next morning, I woke to a cold and lonely atmosphere. My baby girl is still not back. I drag myself out of bed and shower.
