Chapter 49

Jane Swift walked over to Alexander who was standing next to the reception table with a glass of wine in his hand, he slowly sipped it.

"Hi, son," Jane said softly as if she was introducing herself for the first time to her child.

Alexander turned his eyes at her, his expression indifferent and unreadable. "Mrs. Swift." That was the only thing he has known to call her, calling her mother sounded strange to him.

Jane closed her eyes momentarily and let out a soft sigh, his words were distant, how he had called her name sounded like how her business partners called her.

She forced a smile and looked at him. "How do you like your wife?" She asked him, she had noticed his lack of interest in her all through the wedding but still wanted to hear his opinion.

Alexander glanced down at the bottom of the glass. "You chose her as my bride," he raised his cold gaze to meet hers. "Do I have to like her?" His lips moved and she felt the coldness emanating from him.
