“What’s wrong?” I ask as soon as he sets his eyes on me.

He puts his hands in his pockets, looking at me as if I was a stupid cockroach he is about to crush.

“Arawn, what’s wrong?”

“Why should there be anything wrong?”

And we are back with questions instead of answers.

“Your eyes,” I gulp, sliding forward to sit on the edge of the couch. “It’s been a bit since you looked at me like that.”

“Look at you how?” He asks me, his angered gaze looking right through me.

“With disgust,” I whisper. He doesn’t react to it, and just stays silent, watching me intently.

Forcing a smile, I set down my drink and get up to my feet. “Did you lose?”

He scoffs, looking to his side before looking back at me. “Why would that matter?”

“It doesn’t.” I answer, shrugging.

“You can’t take any other clients.” His growl causes my skin to cover in goosebumps, and I keep myself from caressing my arm.

“I know.” I say, tilting my head at him.
