10 – Vicious Uncertainties

The sun settles on the horizon, slowly giving way to the unsettling darkness of the night. Chesa still hasn't told Dolly a thing. She couldn't bring herself to tell her friend about the dangers they were in no matter how much she begged. After all, she was the one that brought her here in the first place.

Khent found himself a tree branch to rest on. His heart was heavy and he kept thinking about his cousin. There was no way that he could return home to her already grieving father without telling him the whereabouts of his daughter. He held his face in his hands and wept bitterly regretting getting panicked and abandoning her there. He would have carried her on his back as he ran.

Overwhelmed with grief, surely there shouldn't be a reason for me to be alive: he thinks looking up to the evening sky as he lets out outbursts of tears uncontrollably.
