This is….nice?

I felt a warmth on my stomach, which caused me to wake up. Looking around, I saw that I wasn’t at my home. I remembered Michael carrying me to the car but everything went blank after that.

There was a heating pad on my stomach and I was wearing an oversized jersey and my underwear.

“I see you’ve woken up,” Michael said as he entered the room. He was still in his work clothes but his sleeves were rolled up. He had a tray in his hand with food on it.

My mouth watered instantly. I didn’t even know I was so hungry.

“I could really go for some food right now,” I said and he chuckled.

“Yes that’s the plan. I made you some chicken teriyaki and noodles.”

“Yum, bring it over here.”

I immediately dug into the food and began scoffing it down. It was really delicious. If it’s one thing about Michael, he could cook really well.

“You were really hungry I see,” he said and I nodded.

“Yeah I didn’t really eat today.”

“That’s not good Arya. You have to do better.”

“My period is so bad sometimes, I just don’t know what to do about it. The medication doesn’t work properly,” I sighed.

“You need to visit a doctor,” He said as he opened a can of juice for me.

“Thank you. Yeah I’d definitely visit a doctor when I get the time.”

“Good, you really need to.”

“Wait a second, did you change my clothes?” I asked and he nodded.

“Relax, I’ve seen it all before. I didn’t do anything to you. You seemed uncomfortable in your work clothes.”

“Thanks,” A light blush tinted my cheeks.

“Is that a blush I see there?” He teased and I pouted.

“Like I’d ever blush for you.”

“Here I bought you something,” He took up a bag from the table and passed it to me.

I knew my hormones were out of wack but my eyes immediately welled with tears. I turned away from him and sobbed silently.

I quietly managed a “thank you” as I looked through the contents of the bag.

It was all my favorite snacks and chocolates. He remembered every single one of them and I was really surprised by it.

“You didn’t have to,” I whispered and looked down because I couldn’t face him.

“Girls love chocolate when they are on their period. I do the same for Lana,” he shrugged.

Of course, this wasn’t special. I was getting caught up again. I almost lost myself in the moment and now his words brought me back down.

Lana always seemed to have the edge on me. There was nothing special that Michael and I ever did or have together. He always included her in some way.

Michael and I started gaming together a few months after we started dating. I was so surprised when I found out that he even told Lana about gaming too so that they could do it together. It might not be a big deal to others, but it hurt me personally.

Even our favorite shows, food, activities, and just anything in general. He would share it with her, and they would do the same things we would.

It was unfair to me in so many ways. Couldn’t he just have been my boyfriend?

"Well, chocolate fixes everything,” I said, forcing a smile.

“But I should get going. I’m also taking a day off tomorrow. Just until I feel better.” I said this as I stood up.

“You’re leaving already. I had some chocolate chip cookies baking, and they are almost done. I figured you’d want.”

“That’s okay, all I really want right now is the comfort of my bed.”

"Well, you can go change down the hall. It’s the room on your left.”

I grabbed my clothes and went to change. I neatly folded the clothes and placed it in the dresser.

I took my purse and the snacks he gave me and left.

My feelings gnawed at me, and I knew I would fall back down the rabbit hole if I let it overcome me.

But I wasn’t that weak girl anymore. I wouldn’t let Michael walk all over me. I was determined to never love him again.

As I stood outside the elevator, the door opened. I was about to step inside when I bounced into Lana.
