CHAPTER TWENTY TWO: AVOIDANCE

I silently accept the water that Istanio gave. I feel so small and uncomfortable here. I sometimes feel how it’s to much to bear seeing how Carx would just glare to me and expressionless. I forced myself to calm from shivering. He stood so chill, fierce and unbothered. He was holding his cigarette inserted between his fingers and can beer in his left hand. They’re boisterously laughing with his friends who are also drunk. I quickly shifted my gaze and look directly to Istanio’s eyes when he reached for my hand and gently squeeze it.

“Sorry if I startled you,” he said and laughed after he let go of my hand immediately. He forced a smile and looked at my eyes with concern. His eyes were beautiful at this closer look. It was brown and how his eyelashes also was effortlessly attractive.

“No. It’s fine,” I replied and already intertwined my fingers as I stooped so low, avoiding his eyes deeply looking into mine. I sigh as when I heard Carx laughed softly. “When did you just worked here?”
