004- Luna's choosing game.

Feeling someone's eyes on me, I opened them quickly in alarm, only to be caught in his dark gaze.

"You are still here?"

"I thought you were going to leave me alone here this night."

Ethan stared at me warmly. However, it was obvious that he still doesn't believe that I have changed.

"What time is it? Did I sleep for that long? I feel better now," I asked myself, raising Ethan's wrist to check his Vacheron Constantin watch. It was a few minutes past 9 p.m.

I was about to let go of his wrist, but he held mine instead and pinned me to the wall. "What are you planning, Charlotte?"

I couldn't breathe properly. He was impermissibly close, and I could smell his woody cologne.

I stared at the greenest eyes I had ever come across. And she said with determination, "After yesterday's night, I decided to give our relationship a rethink."

"A rethink? And that also leads to divorce, right?"

I bit my lips slowly, pulled his neck, and leaned forward to kiss his red lips.

Ethan's eyes widened in surprise. He leaned back to avoid the kiss.

I stood up on my toes and tried to kiss him once more. However, he pushed me away again, slowly. "I have to go to the pack meeting now. I am thirty minutes late already."

"You will leave me once again?"

"Do you want to come along? After all, you might be Luna one day.

I really didn't want to, but I nodded. As long as I am with him.

**

This could be maybe the fifth time I have ever sat in the car with Ethan. He was focused so much on the road, while I was so focused on him.

"Do you drive yourself often? How about your driver? Is he on leave?"

He shot me in the eyes and said, "You really don't know anything about your husband"

I admit.

"You work a lot these days. You didn't even have enough sleep yesterday; aren't you tired?"

"It can't be helped," he glanced at me again, and this time his eyes seemed to be saying: I couldn't sleep thanks to you.

I looked up the road to see a large truck heading towards us. It was speeding like it had lost its break.

"Watch out!" I called out in panic.

Ethan had already made a turn, avoiding the trunk, but then the screeching of the tire and the sudden halting of the car caused my body to move forward, and my head hit in front of the car.

It hurts to the point that I called out in pain. I almost thought I was bleeding.

"Are you okay, Charlotte?" Ethan grabbed me with desperation in his voice.

"It hurts. So badly!"

Ethan reached out, checking the redness on my forehead.

"Ouch, don't touch it."

"Let's go to the hospital."

"No. I will be fine. It's not that bad."

"Don't pity me. I can see you are in pain." He rubbed his thumb on the injury, and when I objected, he said it was going to make it less swollen.

We stopped at the hospital, and the doctor's also confirmed that it wasn't so serious.

around 10:30pm, we finally arrived at the pack meeting but then the elders were already leaving the pack house.

"I guess we couldn't make it earlier. We can go now." I was about to make a U-turn when I heard the familiar, sweet voice call my name.

"Hello, Charlotte, the little runt with some guts."

"mother!" Ethan intervened.

How could I have forgotten that Luna hated my guts? she was being supportive when I said I didn't want to marry his son, but once the marriage happened, I became her worst enemy.

"What's that in your head, Charlotte? A bump?. Just because I said you should get a bump doesn't mean you should hit your damn head somewhere. It should be in your abdomen. Pregnancy bump, you fool."

"Mother, if you're still indifferent about my wife after these years, I won't visit you anymore. We decide whether we want to have a baby or not."

"I see. You have grown so much. Come right in and have dinner with your family."

It sounded more like a threat, but Ethan wasn't scared even a bit. He was indifferent and dragged me with him to the dining room.

Unlike I expected, everyone was gathered. His three brothers, his father, his sister, and then his mother.

The air was tense, and it was quite obvious that we weren't welcomed. to be precise, I wasn't welcomed

"You should have made it earlier to the pack meeting with Ethan."

"I'm sorry, father. We had a minor accident on our way.

"Charlotte, what's that on your head? Are you okay?" his sister asked.

It's quite embarrassing that the bump was so visible.

"Yeah. It's just a little inflammation; I will be fine once I..."

"I'm starving!. Can we start eating already? I have some business after dinner," Cane said, waiting for Alpha to start eating before he did.

It wasn't only my relatives who hated me. My in-laws, too. Except for Evelyn, Ethan's sister, no one was happy about my coming to the Royal family.

I looked closely at Ethan again, wondering what on earth made him fall for me. Aside from the fact that I was attractive, there were other attractive women out there. Rejection was so common in the cabin stone pack, and no one would even question him if he decided to reject me as his mate.

The room was quiet, as if strangers were dining together.

"Since you are here and you never show up quite often, I'd make it official that you, Ethan SheIn, will continue ruling the pack in two months. It's being decided by the pack elders, and Luna's choosing game will begin soon. Your wife should prepare if she doesn't want to lose her position."

I lost my appetite instantly at the alpha's announcement.

I wasn't the only one who stopped eating.

Ethan's brothers stumbled out at the announcement too.

I was going to be replaced if I was not chosen as Ethan's Luna?
