CHAPTER FIFTY

Aiden

PATIENCE WAS ONE of several virtues Aiden had and was proud of but tolerance was not any of them. There was a very close limit to what Aiden could bear, and disturbance was the height of it. 

"Let's say I decide to indulge you, what do you expect to gain from this... uh... friendship?" Aiden asked carefully. 

"Does one have to have a motive for everything?" Katherine responded. 

"Every decision has a reason behind it. It could be instinctual or thoughtful, reasonable or unreasonable. Either way, a reason is a motive." 

Katherine stared at him dreamily. "I am lucky to have you as my king." 

Aiden almost broke character and rolled his eyes but held himself. "That does not answer my question. So, what is your motive, Lady Katherine?"
