Chapter 56

The welcome dance was finally here. I had a shower and stepped out in my comfy clothes, finding Jason dressed in his black crisp button-up shirt and dark gray slacks. He looked handsome as ever.

I dried my hair with a towel as he raked his fingers through his hair and grabbed his watch. "Aren't you coming to the welcome dance?" I asked and he shook his head.

My face fell. "Why?" I asked with slumped shoulders and he sighed.

Walking to the edge of the bed he sat down and motioned for me to walk to him. I groggily stepped closer and he pulled me down on his lap making me yelp. He kissed my cheek, making my heart go warm.

"I have some university stuff to attend to, it's important, but don't worry, I'll wrap it up soon and try to get to the welcome dance as soon as I can," He rasped.

"Promise?" I asked, raising my pinky finger and he chuckled before wrapping his pinky finger with mine while murmuring, promise.
