Chapter 2

"What do you mean you don't understand what is happening?" Lydia asked the doctor. "Do you think what happened makes any sense? I mean, she said she went to the restroom, and when she was coming back, she didn't remember anything else again. Does any of that make sense? Think about it, she's was born blind, and even her father had consulted many experts ophathalmologist, but they couldn't do anything to help because that was how she was born. Now, all of a sudden, not only can she see, but she can see very clearly, she's seeing perfectly. The only theory I can conclude on for now is that her getting her sight back is a miracle." The doctor said.

Lydia stood there, dumbfounded by the doctor's words. It's not that she isn't happy that tanya got her sight back, but the shock of her getting it back without any signs of notice was too much.

She thought about how much tanya had suffered just because she was born blind. Many had criticized her, saying she was a demon, since even her mother died while giving birth to her. Lydia knew tanya had suffered a lot during her childhood as she didn't even have any friends.

Lydia sighed in distress as she bid the doctor goodbye before going to check on tanya.

As she entered the room, she met tanya standing in front of the transparent glass window in front of her. It seemed like she was staring at the busy road that was below her room. She looked fascinated by the scenario that she failed to notice Lydia's presence.  "Tanya, my dear." Lydia called out to her gently.

Tanya turned to look at Lydia, who had unshed tears glistening in her eyes. " Mum, the world is so beautiful. " tanya said in a low voice but loud enough for Lydia's hearing.

"Hmm, the world is beautiful. Would you like to go see the brach with me tomorrow?" Lydia asked as she moved closer to tanya while gently holding her shoulder.

"Of course, I would love to." Tanya said as she pulled Lydia's hand away from her shoulder. Lydia didn't mind because she expected tanya to do that. Honestly, she was just testing if tanya was the same old tanya. Everyone knew tanya didn't like to be touched. She is very is very sensitive about people who come close to her. The only person who is able to touch her without her getting mad is Lydia, but still, she can't tolerate Lydia touching her for more than five seconds. Lydia thought that tanya fear of being touched would have healed along with her sight, but she was wrong.

Lydia shrugged the thought off her mind as she smiled at tanya with warmth in her eyes. Words can't explain how much she loves tanya, even more than her daughter, luna. Even moses, Tanya's father, doesn't love tanya as much as Lydia does. Lydia could be said to be the person who loves tanya the most in the world.

     **********************

The day passed in the blink of an eye, and soon, it was the morning of another day. In the dining room, tanya sat right in front of luna, with Lydia sitting beside her.

Tanya felt a strange feeling of happiness and joy surging through her body. It felt like all her years of being blind were as if she was dead inside. Life felt meaningless to her, but there was nothing she could do. She herself felt she was useless. Now that her sight came back mysteriously, she felt as if she was the happiest woman on earth. The joy of seeing the sun, the cloth she wore, her loved ones face, and now even her food, was something she could kill to have.

She ate more than she normally eats, which made everyone surprised. "Sister, I see you ate a lot today. And trust me, I'm really happy for you. And, by the way, I heard you were going to the beach with mum. Can I tag along? Please, please, please, please." Luna asked with her lips pouted, making her look like a cute little puppy.

At first, tanya wanted to refuse, but thinking about Lydia, she nodded her head at luna, which made luna smile from ears to ears. Moses, Tanya's father, smiled genuinely for the first time in many years. Seeing how Tanya's appetite increased made him feel escatic. He loved his daughter, tanya a lot, but he knows tanya doesn't like him a lot. He understood that he wasn't there when she needed him, and she was always bullied by people when she was young, which made her isolate herself from people. He had always felt guilty, and, at the same time, he was also grateful that Lydia was there for tanya.

Soon after, the family of four finished eating their breakfast, moses went to work, then luna, Lydia, and tanya went for their trip.

The journey to the beach took three hours by car. As soon as the three got to the beach, Tanya's eye was wild open. She had only heard about the beach in the stories Lydia told her when she was a child. But now that she was seeing the beach, a wave of joy hit her. She ran towards the water and watched as the waves of the water rolled to the edge of the sea and also rolled back to the water.

She then dipped her leg inside the water and felt the cold water on her feet. Lydia watched her from afar and felt her heart turn soft.

Hours later, after playing at the beach for a long time, tanya, Lydia, and luna sat on the sand as they watched the sun setting. "The sun set is really beautiful." Tanya muttered to herself while Lydia just nodded her head in affirmation.

"Sister, do you want some cotton candy?"Luna asked. "What's cotton candy?" Tanya asked back.

Tanya had never had a normal childhood. She rarely ever goes out of the house because of her disability. Moses set her on a strict diet so she would stay fit and healthy, so she never had any junk food before.

Luna smiled and said," Wait, right here, sis, I'm gonna get some for you."

Then, Luna left to buy the cotton candy, leaving Lydia and Tanya. "Ummm, Tanya, I'm going to use the restroom. Can you stay here for a minute? Or wait just for thirty seconds, I'll be back soon." Lydia said.

"No problem, I'm not a kid. Besides, I'm no longer blind, so take your time in the restroom." Tanya said. Lydia then stood up, but after taking three steps forward, she turned around to look at tanya, and she found her admiring the setting sun in the sky.

       *********************

"Mum, I still can't find tanya. Where the hell did she go? I've searched everywhere, including the restroom, but I still can't find her." Luna said to Lydia desperately.

"What do I do, I just left her here for a minute, and now, we can't find her. What do i do? Oh God, what do i do? If I had known, I wouldn't have left her alone." Lydia said with tears dropping on her face.

Luna looked her at mother crying and also felt her heart shattering." Don't worry, mum, we'll find her. I'm sure she's somewhere around." Luna said to her mother.

Lydia fell to the ground in pain as her tears kept falling on her face. As soon as she fell, she saw a shiny bracelet with a little diamond on the floor. She then picked it up to examine it closely. "Luna, this is Tanya's bracelet. She would never take off this bracelet. Could tanya have being....ki..."

    *************

"Moses, moses, where are you?" Lydua asked as she ran frantically in the big living room.

"Lydia, what's wrong? Why are you crying?" Moses asked as he climbed down the stairs hurriedly.

"Moses, tanya.. tanya, has been..." Lydia tried to speak, but she kept choking on her words.

"Calm down, Lydia, calm down, take a deep breath, and speak. What happened to tanya?" Although moses told Lydia to calm down, his breathing was already haggard when he heard Tanya's name.

"Moses, tanya has been kidnapped!!!!!!!" Lydia screamed on top of  her voice.
