Chapter 40

Maybe my voice was not audible enough, why? Because he just watched me, like a hawk. It became pretty much unsettling after a while. The courage I earlier once had all dissipated. My pale skin as red as a tomato, I was so sure judging by how warm it felt.

“What!”

Finally, a reaction from him after what felt like forever. I became a little bit cold, as he abruptly pulled up from the couch and began pacing around.

“What do you mean, you can help me” His voice was low, and husky. Not sure if he was confused or mad. I was never much used to this side of him. The only emotion familiar with me about him being that of sweetness, or just calm. He stopped in front of me as he repeated the question once more, but this time with a puncture on each syllable.

I stuttered, because I had no idea on how to raise my offer once more and also because, I was distracted. That glaring budge, it was really hard to concentrate.

“I..I..I said I could help you with that.” I said pointing at my intention
