The Picnic

Kali and I walk out of the house and make our way over to his car.

It's a big black pick up truck his dad gave to him on his eighteenth birthday.

I remember the look of joy and excitement Kali had plastered on his face when his dad handed him the keys to the truck.

Kali has always wanted to own a truck and he was filled with happiness when his dad made that dream come true last year.

"Ready?" He asks me as he opens the passenger's seat for me.

I nod and he kisses my forehead and waits for me to get in before closing the door and heading over to the driver's seat.

Once we're inside, he offers me a light kiss on the lips.

"I've missed you." He says.

"You saw me two days ago." I state.

"So..?" He asks with a smirk.

I just smile and shake my head as he bends the key and the car engine roars with life.

It's a thirty minute ride from my house to our favourite spot and I can't wait for us to get there.

I haven't eaten all day and my intestines are wrapping around each other begging to be fed.

My stomach makes a weird noise and Kali let's out a light chuckle.

"Someone's hungry.." He says, his eyes not once leaving the road. Kali drives so responsibly.

"Yeah I haven't eaten all day."

"My mom made apple pie for our picnic." He says with a smirk.

Kali's mom makes the most amazing apple pie and she knows how much I love it.

How thoughtful of her to take out time to make one for our picnic.

"Your mom's the best.." I say a little bit too loudly with a huge grin plastered on my face.

Kali keeps driving in silence. He doesn't like talking or taking his head away from the road while he's driving, he's cautious and doesn't want to be involved in any accidents.

I take out my phone and connect my bluetooth to his car and play my favorite Taylor Swift playlist. I turn the volume down as low as I can, so the sound of the music is very faint.

I spin in my chair and start staring at Kali as he drives. Kali is a year older than me. We started dating last year and so far we've had an amazing healthy relationship.

We have little fights and quarrels here and there, like any other normal couple, but we always come up with healthy solutions.

Like my mom, I'm grateful for the fact that I fell in love with a warlock and not a human. We have a mutual understanding and It makes things a whole lot easier.

Being a witch is serious business and although some mortals are open minded enough to not judge and understand, let's be realistic, witches and humans just don't match.

Especially with the aging. As witches, we start aging a little bit slower once we reach the age of twenty. We don't blend with humans due to this reason. It will raise a lot of suspicion. Being a witch is hard work if you ask me.

Kali is an incredible warlock, and all the other teenagers in our coven look up to him.

He as a remarkable face and precise features that can leave any female drooling at the sight.

He has very soft black hair and thoughtful brown eyes. I could stare at his eyes forever. He's a perfect blend between a bad boy and a gentleman.

In a few minutes, we arrive at our spot and I smile at the thought of all the snacks I'm about to devour.

Kali and I found this spot last year when we were driving around aimlessly and since then we just kept coming here from time to time, and it soon became our favorite spot.

It's a cliff, with water beneath it and it always has displays of the most amazing sunsets. That's why we love coming here so much. Watching the stars and the sunset from up here with Kali is something I look forward to any day, any time.

We both get out of the truck and start fixing up everything beside the cliff. I notice Kali brought all of my favorite snacks and I shoot a thankful smile at him.

"Did I mention you're the best boyfriend in the world?" I say to him.

"I know, I'm pretty amazing aren't I?" He replies with a smirk.

I'm glad I decided to stick with my sweatpants because the air up here is a little bit chilly this evening..

We sit and the first thing I go for is the apple pie his mom made for us, and like expected, it's beyond delicious.

I eat until I can't anymore and fall to my back on the ground.

"Glutton." Kali teases and I just let out a little laugh.

I'm so full.

"Hey get up. I got you something." I sit up and Kali reaches into his pocket and pulls out a small box.

The color of the box reminds me black is Kali's favourite color.

"Are you going to propose to me Mr Varlett? Because my answer will be no. We're too young to get married." I say, teasing him.

"Don't worry Miss Graves. It's not a ring. Although sooner or later, I'll put one on those fingers." He says with a smirk.

He opens the box and it's a silver necklace. Kali knows I prefer jewelry in silver. The necklace is shiny and has an infinity sign on it.

It's beautiful.

"I suppose you know the infinity sign means you're stuck with me. Forever." He states.

"What if I decide I want to break up with you one day?" I tease him.

"I'll simply say No. You can't break up with me if I say No." He says with a smile.

"Good point." I say laughing.

I turn around, and pull my hair to the side, allowing him to buckle the chain around my neck.

"You're also stuck with me forever Mr Varlett." I say and offer him a light kiss on the lips. I'm never taking off this necklace.

We stare at the sunset for a while before deciding to take out our grimoires.

The spell we've been asked to work on is The Mending Spell.

Ever since what happened when I was a kid, I made a mental note not to use my magic unless I needed to. Like in occasions like this one right here when the Dark Academy gives us tasks or assignments.

The Dark Academy is a special school for witches. Those who know this call it the dark academy but for humans, they know it to be "Elite high."

To mortals, it's supposed to be this fancy school that only a select few go to, but the only people who ever get admitted into the school are witches and warlocks.

Everyone who attends is a witch, the studenrs, teachers, everyone. We know very well how to keep our secret from the rest of the world.

During school period, we follow the normal high school curriculum, except during weekends and holidays when we study official witch curriculum.

During holidays, when it's time to attend our witchcraft classes, students just teleport to school to avoid raising suspicion.

Mortals will definitely asks questions if they see a bunch of students going to school during holidays.

We open to the page where the Mending Spell is written.

The books reads:

"This spell repairs a break or tear in any object you touch, such as broken chain, two halves of a broken key, a torn cloth, a mirror and much more. You mend it, leaving no trace of the former damage.

This spell can physically repair a magic item but the spell can't restore magic to such an object."

It sounds easier than it is to do.

The book says the spell requires a completely clear mind and presice thoughts or you could do more damage than good to the object you're trying to repair.

You make a mental note in your mind to repair only what is broken, touch the object and say the word "reparo".

Kali walks over to his car and takes out two mirrors, two tshirts, two pieces of paper and two leaves.

He places the objects in front of us and we decide to start with the paper.

We both tear our pieces of paper and place our hands on them, and at the same time, we chant: Reparo.

In seconds, the paper is good as new and I smile at how easy that was.

We do the same for the other objects and succeed.

"That was easier than I thought." I say

"It's because you're an amazing witch, it always came naturally to you. You don't even have to try too hard. I bet you others are having problems doing what you just did." He says to me

"You did it just fine."

"I'm amazing. Everything I do is perfect so it doesn't count." He says with a wide grin.

He actually is amazing. He works extremely hard to be a good warlock.

It's getting late so we decide to pack up and head back home.
