I liked Southerners. They were way politer than LAs.

“Thank you. Where are we going?”

Chloe grinned and leaned forward between the seats. “To the tattoo parlor down the street.”

I stopped. “Wait. What?”

Her grin just widened, and Luca pulled away.

Aw, hell.

I couldn’t believe I did it.

“I can’t believe you did it!” Chloe gasped over her wineglass. “I thought you’d tell me to fuck off and watch me do mine.”

“It really hurt!” I rolled my shoulder. “Ouch. Still does.”

Chloe stared at her wrist where Milka’s name was covered by a dressing. “Yeah. This kinda stings, too.”

“What kinda stings?” Conor asked, walking across the bar.

“Oh shit!”

“Didn’t you tell him?” I shrieked quietly. Kind of.

“Tell me what?”

“Nothin’, hon. Nothin’.” Chloe shoved her wrist under the table.

“Are you kidding? He’s going to find out. Man up, chicken!” I pointed my—much-loved—wineglass at her.

“I, er, I got a tattoo.”

“You did what?” Conor asked slowly, staring at her with disbelief radiating from his eyes.
