Tampering with her locks and making myself feel at home wasn’t the best option, but then I’m not welcomed here, not that I wanted to be.

The mixed-match sofa and the leaking roof speak a whole lot about her living condition. She gave everything up without a fight and settled for a life that I’ll never find myself in. Lucas, who is equally uncomfortable being in here, opted to sit on the wooden dining seat.

That looks like the only seat which is free from bugs.

If the reports I’ve gotten from my men are accurate, she should be home by now. Trying not to be impatient, I made myself comfortable on the kitchen island.

Lucas snickered. “You gotta be careful up there boss. We do not want broken woods tearing into your asscheeks.” I’m in no mood for jokes, so I let this joke slide without showing any sign of humor. Lucas got the point. “She’s home.”
