Nobody said anything about Xavier testifying. I looked at him, expecting any form of emotion from him…anger, surprise, shock, anything but all I got is a stoic face, a face void of any emotion. He squeezed my hand, reassuring me that everything is going to be fine before he walked out of our seat to the witness stand.

I watched everything unfold. Xavier was told to swear with the Bible to speak nothing but the truth after he confirmed himself to be a Christian. I laughed inwardly at their reasoning. Xavier is going to lie if he wants to even if they make him swear before God himself.

Frederick was the first to interrogate Xavier. “You’re Mr. Xavier Ellmord right?” Surprised by the silly question, Xavier arched his brows in response.

“You have to answer every question Mr. Ellmord.” The judge informed him “Unless the question is proven to be irreverent to this case.”

My husband thinks otherwise. I don’t know if others can see it, but I can. Xavier pinched the bridge of his nose.
