Chapter 42 : I hate you!

"I left you because you left me without even walking away. It's just that when I left, it was visible. But when you left me, only I could see it"

The sound of his voice echoes inside my head, each syllable striking my heart like a physical blow. My mind can't help replaying his words in a loop and each time those words vibrate inside of my head, I feel nothing but sheer ache.

I walk into the manor again after spending more than an hour outside. The ballroom is empty and Kylee is eating her breakfast alone at the dining table.

She eyes me once before immediately looking down to stuff her mouth with food.

I walk straight up to the room. The door is locked. My hands feel weak as I tap on the door.

"Samuel!" I wonder if my voice reaches him.

He doesn't respond.

I tap a bit harder.

"Samuel", my voice comes off a bit louder this time. And I'm sure he can hear me. "Open the door"

The sound of my laboured breathing trips over the door as I press my forehead against it.
