Chapter 29

Din remembered his conversation with Jessie the night before. She sounded like she was sucked into the downpour. Perhaps that was the source of her illness.

He and Sierra escorted Jessie into the house and showed her to her room. Jessie was too unwell to gaze at the mansion she admired.

She just wanted to get out of that gown and sleep for a while.

"Be gentle with her," Sierra said as Din assisted Jessie into her bed.

"I'll contact the maid to see how she's doing," Din stated as he approached the open door.

Sierra said, "No Din, contact a doctor," and Din nodded. "I'll stay with her till he gets here." Din walked out of the room after she assured him.

After Din left the room, Jessie took off her clothes so she could breathe freely. She was carefully placed on the bed, her legs covered by a blanket. "If you weren't feeling well, you should have told him no when he invited you over for supper."

Jessie coughed, followed by a sneeze. "I was completely unaware that I was ill."
