Chapter 99

“This would be weird... but I—we have to say it anyway,” doctor Chris cleared his throat, he and Alita’s mum share an intimate look and at once everybody knew what Chris was going to say. They just waited for his words to confirm their thoughts. “In light of the love that gives life from one to the other, now is the best time to say this. We’ve been trying to tell you, Alita, but couldn’t find the right time,” he paused, observing Alita’s countenance. She was wide-eyed, looking straight at him, expectant of what he had to say. “I and your mum… we are in love and are serious with each other,” he said. A smile crept onto his face as he continued, “We wanted you, Alita, to know, and of course, everyone else,” he drawled and exhaled afterward.

The room was quiet and awkward for some seconds as everyone processed what they just heard.

Alita went pale-faced and her eyes drooped as her jaws set. She pursed her lips and squinted as She made a mental analysis of Chris as a man for her mother.
