CHAPTER FORTY-SEVEN | THE SEARCH

By the end of my speech, I'm expecting him to be crying like a child on the other end. What I'm not expecting is for a female voice to clear.

“Hello, Amanda." My stepmother greets from the other end.

Fuck! Shit! Fucking hell! I just want from frying pan to fire. She would never let me back into that house after everything I just said about her.

“Where is my father?" I ask, completely ignoring her greeting. .

I can almost feel her smug smirk on the other side. “He is in a coma."

“I said I would like to speak with my father please." I don't even notice I'm yelling until I bang my fist on the table.

Damn it! I shouldn't have said ‘please' now she'll know that I'm desperate.

“Look, your father is in a coma and I can't help you."

‘Calm down. Take deep breaths. Deep…deep breaths.' I chant in my head as I try not to blow up on her.

“Since when?" I mange to ask once I successfully calm myself.
