I woke from Eden stirring and whimpering in my arms. “Did I hurt you?” I blurted out the words even before I could understand what I was saying.

“No, it’s hot and I feel like if I won’t get out of the bed, I will pee all over you,” she whispered.

“I wouldn’t mind. Let her mark her territory,” Xabat interjected.

I barked out a laugh at his words and released Eden. She didn’t run to the bathroom as I expected. Instead, she sat up, looking as uncomfortable as ever and stared at me as if I just grew another head.

“What?” I asked through the laugh.

“Why are you laughing at me?” She sounded serious and a little concerned, but I just waved her off because there was no way I would ever tell her what the beast just announced.

“Why not? Tell her!” Xabat growled at me, making me laugh even harder. I could only imagine the look on her face if she heard his thoughts.
