INFIRMARY
Mya and Laura sat beside Alix's bed, nervous. Laura gazed down at Alixes and back at Mya, worriedly. She drew closer to Mya and leaned over her shoulder, "Do you think she'll be alright?", she mumbled but had no response from her since she couldn't hear or see her. She sighed, devastated and strolled back to her seat. "What am I even thinking? Definitely, she can't even see or hear me. What's the use_ been a ghost is so devastating and heartbreaking".She faint into the chair and stared down at Alixes with teary eye. "Please be safe", she murmured softly_caressing Alixes hand.Just then, Betty trod in, Mya approached her nervously. Laura stared at them expectantly."She's been like this for the past three hours. Do you think she'll be alright?", Mya queried.Betty nodded with a smile," Sure, Miss Mya". She assured and glided towards Alix's bed. By the flip of a finger, Raina was already right beside Rubin. Lupita, Jack and Ivy gazed at her in awe. "Geez, she can be so unbelievable – how can she just ditch us like that?", mumbled Ivy with wide–eyed, slightly shaking her head wearing a deadpan gaze. Jack and Lupita chuckled,"That's so like her", Jack whispered and they both laughed.Rubin dropped his bag beside his desk and turned only to find Raina staring at him with her head on the desk. He flinched, startled by her presence next to him since he wasn't expecting her. With a sheepish smile, she stuttered "Oops, sorry, I startled you."Raina is a blond hair girl who's well known for her overly self- esteem and clingy attitude.Wearing a bright smile, she stretched out her hand towards him,"Hi, I'm Raina Richardson – Nice to meet you, Rubin". "No, Rubin, don't talk to her– she's a ghost. Don't make her find out you can see her", he faintly whispered to himself, looking down at Alixes.Laura glared at him with quite a disappointed and confused look, slowly dropping her hand from the wave. THE BROWN'S MANSIONMrs. Audrey Brown, Rubin's mother was at the hall, her head buried in a magazine with Annabella, his 8years old sister watching Frozen– her favorite Disney film when Rubin barged in. Their attention was deftly drawn to the door with the rate in which the door was shut closed as if to pull the whole mansion down. A sheepish grin dazzled on his lips at the fixed eyes that met his. Annabel chuckled and giggled at the sight of her brother. RUBIN'S ROOMRubin chuckled softly, turning back to his laptop with his back facing her, "Stop spilling rubbish, Laura", he mumbled, typing something on his machine. It was a beautiful Monday morning. The morning was bright and clear with the early morning sun dancing merrily on it's slow and majestic but steady journey to the west. Rubin was still in bed when the morning sun sneaked through his window, hitting it's rays on his eyes. He winced, drowsily opening his eyes as he turned to the other side of the bed.Unknowingly to him, Laura was kneeling beside his bed, staring at him whiles he was asleep. Laura was standing at the entrance to the rooftop, watching her friend paced to and fro when Rubin walked in on her from behind."Was wondering where you left to." He said, making Laura jerked, swiftly turning in the process to meet his face just an inch away.She stood staring at him with those puppy grey eyes and the whole world seemed to froze at that moment.Taking in the sight of those shinning blue eyes, an unusual sensation raced through her heart, making it thump faster. "W–what's this feeling?" She grumbled mentally to herself.It was Rubin's first time having this close eye contact with Laura. He felt those eyes telling him something but couldn't place a hand on what it could be. Her eyes bored into him and for a second, he felt like curbing her face. To assure her he would be there for her and protect her. To tell her everything was going to be alright.A sudden scream from the rooftop brought them back to reality."Alix
