My eyes felt like they were carrying the weight of the world as I forced them open.

The first thing I saw was Blake’s back turned to me while he ran a hand through his already ruffled hair over and over again like he’d reached his limit with frustration.

“You’ve had three damn hours to wake her up! Three! And yet, you can’t find a single pulse in her body despite all the countless spells you've chanted,” he hissed, addressing a lady whose face was blocked by his huge frame.

“She’ll wake up soon, the spells take a while to set in, but I’m sure she's alive, I could feel her wolf while I checked for a pulse earlier,” she sounded just as frustrated while explaining things to him.

“You’ve said those same words over and over, but she's still passed out cold, how the hell am I supposed to believe a word that leaves your lips?” his voice deepened and his anger was evident in every word.
