Scarlett’s worries doubled as mine, and I wouldn't rest until they were eased.

I was pooling all my contacts and resources to track down whoever made an attack on her life because I couldn’t lose her when she was finally warming up to me. Though it was happening slowly, it filled my heart with glee because I assumed that she’d never look at me again.

My mind was replaying memories of the night she slept in my room and I was genuinely on cloud nine as I walked towards my car. However, my mood quickly morphed to annoyance when I spotted Logan stepping out of his car and heading towards the house.

Stubbornly, I walked back and blocked the entrance to the house.

“Get out of my way, Alex, I don’t have time for your rubbish,” he sighed tiredly, rubbing his temple like I was giving him a headache.
