I dragged in a breath of fresh air as I shut my car door and smiled softly to myself as my pack’s hideout came into full view. Diligently, I followed due process by switching off my phone and placing it in the security metal box for guest’s gadgets.

My pack—more specifically, my maternal pack which I was the rightful Alpha to—has been in hiding since I learnt of them, and so it was routine to always switch off my device when I arrived at their hideout. I had a family that enjoyed snooping around because they had the resources to and I knew all hell would break loose if my father found out through my location history that I’d been frequenting a place that was unlisted on the city’s map.

I didn't want to dwell on how much worse things would get if he then realized that the unlisted place was actually home to my mother’s pack because I was now walking through the second and most heavily guarded gate and being greeted by the guards.

“Keep up the good work,” I wave
