39: Root of the matter

LOGAN

I threw on my suit jacket as my driver pulled up inches away from the door to Apex Construction’s Headquarters.

In a second, one of the men in black suits opened the back door and I slipped on my sunshades as u stepped out.

Swiftly, the security men at the doors held them open for me to walk in and as I walked past them they bowed in greeting. Immediately I stepped foot into the company lobby, Ashley and at least five other staffs hurried towards me with company issued iPads in their palms.

Greetings started to fly out from every corner but I cut them off without acknowledging any.

“Progress report, now,” I demanded as I kept walking and they struggled to keep in stride with me.

“I’ve drawn up a case for unjust defamation against the newspaper,” came the lawyer’s rushed answer, “there's a hearing in the court in thirty minutes but it doesn't require your presence.”

Good. I don't have the time to waste on feeble gossip anyways.
