66: just like a perfect gentleman

It was either I had the face of an angel, so captivating that a man couldn't take his eyes of me, or Micheal just loved to stare.

He didn't stare in a way that made me uncomfortable though, it was an adoring gaze that he seemed unable to tear his eyes away from. Even now as he swiped what was no doubt an unlimited gold card to pay the bill, his eyes remained on me.

“Dinner was lovely, thank you for tonight,” I said out of courtesy as we walked to his car.

An almost inaudible “hmm,” left his lips, one that made it seem like he’d never been thanked by any of the ladies he'd taken on a date.

“No, Scarlett,” he opened the passenger door for me and then reached out to tuck a loose strand behind my ear, “thank you for being an amazing date, this is undoubtedly the best one I’ve ever been to.”

I should’ve been excited at the prospect of being the best date that a man as handsome and gentlemanly as Micheal had ever had, flattered even, but I didn't feel a fragment of those emotions.
