Katie licked her dry lips and took a small sip from her cup of coffee. “So I really saw your past in the fire?”

The group nodded in unison, looking rather sullen. Kaine sat beside Katie and continued. “We need your help about this, actually. We need to get her out of the cave.”

“I’m sorry, I just don’t know how I enter the picture; I don’t have anything to contribute.”

“We honestly don’t know either but… being summoned here and finding a diviner in the same place is not a coincidence,” Marielle said, “Trust me, you’re significant in this. We just honestly don’t know how.”

“May I ask, who summoned you here?” Katie asked after a moment of hesitation.

“Probably the gods,” Ryle said, exasperated. “They did that before.”

“I see,” Katie took another sip of her coffee, thoughtful. “How did you end up in the island with the cave?”

“Same answer,” Xena replied.

“So can’t we ask them to release Jainella?”

The group sighed
