83. The apology

[Xavier’s POV]

Being in the Palace around her was getting too tiring, and I just needed somewhere else to be at that point. I needed to think things through and just see if I could go back to being my normal self which was happy before the whole child issue began.

So, I raced on all fours, breezing through the woods without stopping till I got to my favourite spot back when I was little. No one could find me there, and it was a place I went to whenever I needed to be alone with my thoughts.

I arrived there, and transformed back into my human form, then gasped for breath, relaxing a bit. It was a serene environment deep in the woods which I had come across about a decade and a half ago.

The land was dry with no sign of life, save for a large tree which had been alive for decades, centuries even. I didn’t know how, but somehow, it wasn’t dead even though no one was looking after it, and I remember being fascinated by it the first time I ever came across this place when I had gotten lost
