Chapter 29. Morticia's Rage.

Morticia.

Ever since I was dismissed from the Alpha king's chambers to summon Evelyn, I hadn't been unable to understand what had gone wrong so quickly for Kieran to find such displeasure in my presence. I had waited all night, hoping that Evelyn would leave quickly so I could go back and ask what went wrong and make amends but that didn't happen because I didn't see Evelyn come out of his chambers at all. Eventually I gave up and went back to my chambers. Yet, I couldn't sleep. The fancy bed, soft sheets, and the fancy room offered no comfort. Instead, my mind was a whirlpool of thoughts about Alpha King Kieran and that slave girl, Evelyn.

The night seemed endless, with moonlight peeking through the curtains, casting strange shadows. But no matter how pretty the moonlight was, it couldn't calm the storm in my head. I couldn't understand why Kieran favored Evelyn over me, even though I'd been with him longer, loyal and obedient. At least, most of the time.
