48. Vengeance Awaits

I gasped and stumbled back as the woman in the tomb opened her eyes and started moving.

"Who are you?" I asked as she stepped out of the box. She looked at me and grinned as if she knew me already.

"Don't be scared," she said. Her voice was soft and sweet like melodic bells ringing. "I've been waiting for you."

I took a step back, my eyes widening as I looked more closely at the woman before me. She was tall and breathtakingly beautiful, with pale skin and big, emerald-green eyes. But there was something off-putting about her demeanor -- a slight tilt to the shoulders, a slight wariness in her gaze. And yet, underneath it all, she seemed to emit a strange sort of allure.

"What do you mean you've been waiting for me?" I asked.

"My name is Selena," she said, in a voice that was almost sing-song. "What's yours?"
