An Unexpected Visitor

Cameron shifted his attention from the vibrant old lady sitting beside him on the old beige couch to the toddler playing at his feet. He instantly flashed a warm smile at the little boy, who returned it. The toddler was sitting at their feet, holding a collection of toys, munching on one of them with his new set of teeth, babbling incoherent words. His grey eyes lit up in excitement as he looked up at Cameron.

“Aww, he has warmed up to you instantly,” the lady said with a smile.

He nodded, “He has…” His mind wandered, consumed by his thoughts, but he was pulled back to reality when the doorknob turned and he heard that beautiful voice that seemed to tingle him, “Mother, do you know I was unable to get Levi’s brand of milk at…” She froze as soon as she walked into the living room and saw them. Her eyes widened, she clutched tightly to the bag in her hand, her knuckles turning white.
