“Scarlett, I promise you the house is squeaky clean, and by the way, he has already been here before...”

“Unannounced, I need to make an impression,” she cut in.

“But why?”

She thought hard about it. “He needs to see Levi is well taken care of…”

Clarissa chuckled. “Just that?”

“What else would there be?”

“I don’t know, it looks like you’re trying to impress him for… well, other reasons…”

She groaned. “Just go away, Mom!”

“You’re the one who asked me to be here…” She giggled and went into the kitchen.

Scarlett resumed fussing over the tablecloth; she was anxious. She had no assurance that Cameron would show up; he didn’t call or text, nothing. Also, she was worried about how it would go if he did show up.
