HIT AND RUN

Cathrina ignored Leonard’s glare which was sharp enough to cut through her skin. She joined them on the mat and placed the large appetizing bowl of fruit salad before her.

“This looks delicious!” Fred found himself mumbling with his eyes rolling all over the bowl.

Catherine flashed a mischievous smile.

Leonard felt betrayed. He darted his malicious stare back to Fred.

“You can as well try a spoonful, Fred. It’s a recipe I’m good at.” Catherine boasted. “David loved it as a child. I’m sure he’s still fond of it.”

“Glad to hear that you still have memories of what he likes. I thought the drugs in your system must have wiped that off.” Leonard spat, looking straight into her eyes.

Catherina gave a weak smile. “Why don’t we focus on the family picnic and leave out the banter for some other time.”

“First of all, you are not part of the family. No one invited you here and you’ll do us a great favor if you leave.” Leonard responded.
