BEST FRIENDS AT WAR

David pulled the doorknob inward and just when he was about to take a step out of the room, he bumped into June by the door.

His heart skipped a beat and when she stared at him with a quirked brow, David began to stumble on his words.

“I just came to check up on Sylvia. The hospital. We…”

June folded her arms across her chest, maintaining an investigative stare. David stepped out and slowly shut the door behind him.”

“I never knew she was discharged.”

“The hospital called me this evening so I got there and was able to process her discharge after she was declared fit.”

June hummed. “I see.”

David studied her. It was 9 pm yet she was fully dressed.

“Where are you coming from?”

The question caught June off guard. “I just stepped out for dinner. The food they cook here is gibberish.” She said and cleared her throat loudly. Meanwhile, she had just got off from a meeting with her Godfather.
