Amelia's Pov

As I stood in fear, something strange happened. The leader of the group started laughing, and the men who had captured me joined in.

I couldn't believe what was happening. I had been taken to see their leader, expecting some kind of explanation or reassurance. Instead, he burst into laughter when he saw me, his teeth glinting in the firelight as my face grew hot with embarrassment and confusion.

"What's so funny?" I demanded, feeling both angry and afraid while trying to look bold.

But the leader just continued to laugh, shaking his head in amusement. "You don't even know what you've gotten yourself into," he said finally, still chuckling.
