7. DANGEROUS GAME

Rax was quiet the whole way back, a silence that made me fear, fear I couldn't explain because uncle Rax had always been one person I looked up to. He had left and made a life of his own.

The house was even colder as we stepped in. I scrambled to my room and stayed there for the remainder of the night. At some point loud moans filled the house and all I could do was bury my head under a pillow until sleep claimed me.

I woke up, took a shower and dressed in jeans and a large worn out t-shirt.

Time hadn’t been specified for when Slade would come and pick me up. My nerves were at it again, hands running down my t-shirt, the best I could do. I wanted to scream in embarrassment, color having left me pale. I couldn’t hide in my room all day so I slowly crept out of my room and found the house abandoned. There were alcohol bottles everywhere. I picked them up and decided to do a bit of cleaning while I waited.

A door jerked open, pulling a scream out of me because I thought I was alone.
