CHAPTER FIFTY-SIX
It was 7:10 am when Esther decided to open her eyes, not because she had been asleep, but until now she had been struggling to wink. Throughout the night, her mind was wrestling with boundless thoughts. In her opinion, the serenity of the mansion seemed to have withered since the minute she witnessed Richard and Jina at parallels, the latter ready to slay her husband. That the adorable couple could all of a sudden turn against each other seemed a delphic and an incomprehensible matter to her. All she undoubtedly knew was that things wouldn't be the same again henceforth.
In her heart, she evinced that Richard and Jina would patch up their issues as soon as possible because their misunderstandings were bound to affect the kids.

Esther bounced off the walls when he saw Richard because she least expected him to be present. She walked speedily to where her cousins stood. They were mesmerised as well. "He came!" Her voice broke with excitement as she spoke. "Yeah, but what I don't understand is whether he cancelled his trip." Said Mercy and the three gazed at him as he twirled Jina in a groove in a breezy way. Jina showed some resistance at first, but with an instinct that she was the spot for everyone's eyes simply gave in even though her anger was boiling which she decided to displace by stepping on his toe. It was in the middle of the night and everyone was supposedly dead asleep. Then suddenly, the door to Esther's room slung open. A silhouette figure stood steadied in the entrance appearing to be watching her with its protruding bloody eyes that were hidden beneath its mask. Its huge shape was covered in a long dark dress that flared down to its feet and covered its boots that had a tail of a fish in front. The door opened and then slammed again repeatedly, each time making a loud sound as if it was swayed by a gale of wind. Esther quickly snapped out of her sleep frightened,"Who is that?" She asked, her face reddening with fear and sat on the bed. She rubbed her eyes and again opened them widely to see clearly. Simon drove the car amidst the tension, but he was careful not to make another mistake. The less traffic on the road was a big advantage to him and he was sure that if he and his company were lucky, they would reach their destination in a few minutes. More often, he would peer through the rear mirror to look at the stranger, who, because of his carelessness, was treading the thin line between life and death, and each time he peered at her, he would imagine her susceptibility to danger and felt as if her heart would stop beating any minute; that is if at all it was still functioning. Emilia had been listening to her husband's conversation with the doctor and noticedthat Miguel was upset. She came over and held his hand,"Excuse us, Dr." She said gesturing to him with a flash of a smile, "I would like to talk to my husband." The latter nodded and she took Miguel to the rear corner and started after peeking and making sure that no one was in the earshot,"Honey, what do you intend to do with her now?" She spoke in a whisper."Would I be here If I had an idea? I am confused.""Look here, don't let this whole thing stress you out. What if we pay one of the doctors to eliminate her instead? The doctor was impulsive but was quick to escape her question by interrupting her,"I mean- he looks tired. That's why I suggested it. Forgive me for my clarity, ma'am." Simon knew he had to concede with his partner in order not to leave any trace of suspicion in her mind, and holding her hand with tenderness, he affirmed, "I think he's right, mom, I feel very tired and worn out. Esther's head was heavy and her body frail, but that was not all; her mind was blank. She couldn't make out anything around her nor did she remember anything about her past as though her noddle was scraped off of every detail of what she was or knew before the accident- not even her name.She grimaced trying to raise her head and, Simon, aware that she was still very weak said,"Take it easy- You are still weak.""What happened to me? Where Am I? ah, my head hurts terribly.""Sorry, easy, don't you remember- you had an accident. You've been unconscious for days. I am happy that you are awake now."
