“Thalia, why weren’t you both in the building?”
She looks over at me and frowns before she says, sounding like I should know why.
“Anna no longer has access to the building. Only people with ID access cards may enter and go up to the offices without official booked in business. She no longer has one since Mr MarLaren fired her…”
“What?… Fired her? Why?”
“He told her some bullshit about a meeting with you and that you had said that the office needed to cut costs and she was to be let go… Mr Nightmoon, why did you ask for her to be fired? ANNALISE…I ignore her and walk back over to the black dry-cleaner bag and smile as I reach into the bottom and pull out matching red heels. I slip them on and then walk over to where Charmine is still standing at the door. NICOLAS… I then reach over and pick up Annalise’s file and look up her contact number. I then give the folder and one of the forms to Alice and say, “Your paperwork Alice. NICOLAS… After a few moments, Raoul looks left and then right. He waits a few moments more before stepping over the boundary line. He then takes off running, following that vanilla rose and strawberry scent. We don’t come across any patrols and I smile as I now know what he was doing as he ran along the boundary line.
