ANNALISE…I don’t answer him; I recover my steps and continue to run as fast and as quietly as I can. I then hear Hugo in my head and this time I do stumble and end up rolling to a stop on the ground as he growls,“ANNALISE! RETURN TO ME!” I can’t stop the scream of pain that leaves my lips as I fight the Alpha command within his tone and then the slave mark on my shoulder burns and sends intense pain streaming through my body at the fact that I am still fighting his outright command. HUGO…I head into the trees and keep going, taking in deep breaths, scenting for rogues until I find a place where their scents are very faint. I slow down and just as I expected, as soon as I do Annalise jumps off of my back, hitting the ground hard and rolling in the dead leaves. I slide to a stop and shift.
