Chapter Forty-eight - Terrible mistake

Suddenly the room is completely silent, Geneva and I stare at each other and she looks alert, she's wary looking at me with that pair of bright green eyes, not so bright right now actually.

"Everything is fine? "I ask.

She doesn't answer, instead she breaks down in an overly copious cry, looking sad and desperate. I didn't know what to say, I was afraid to approach and end up making things worse. So I got up, went to the kitchen "and I'm glad I found it the first time". I got a glass, filled it with water and brought it to her who was still crying.

I slowly approached the sofa where she sat. I touched her shoulder and when I received her attention, I offered the glass which was gladly accepted.

She took a few sips as she tried to calm down, she even sobbed a few times before recovering.

"I made a terrible mistake. "She says after long minutes of silence.

"We make mistakes, we are human beings. " I try to comfort her.
